Mochizuki Village || Open and Accepting || Ghosts!

Wind chimes make soft noises as the wind blows through the tiny village, the noise should have been calming--it wasn't. Rain in this village meant the wards that kept the ghosts in the forest at bay, would weaken, and they would be able to slip through the cracks, and steal away any children that weren't hidden safely within their parent's arms. 

But Mochizuki Village wasn't always like this, many years ago, the fruit trees would blossom after rains, and the villagers would rejoice in the rain, throwing festivals in the rain's honor. Until one day, children started going missing on the dark days of rain, wandering off to play in the forest, and never returning. The villagers suspected an animal of some sort was taking the children, and the men set off with their guns to find the beast, kill it, and set the children's remains at rest. Imagine their surprise when instead of the beast they were expecting, a thick, black fog rose from the inner parts of the forest, obscuring everything. 

Those that made it back to the village reported seeing a woman dressed in a white dress, who demanded to have her baby back. Those that didn't make it back were never seen nor heard of again, though some believe they may have seen the men's faces hovering at the edge of the forest, partially obscured by the shadows, and then disappearing between one blink and the next. 

The rain blew harder against the group of foreigners, from outside the village. They seemed to carry themselves without fear, as if they'd seen the worst the world had to offer them. The group walked up to the biggest house in the village, and knocked, waiting for it to open. They had been brought here, as the best and greatest in their field. That field being ghosts, some of them were exorcist, others were there to catch proof of the souls wandering the earth, waiting to be released from their torment, and yet some of the others were brought along for their skills at hearing those cries of the dead.
